Safari 6/7 (Mavericks): Manage website notifications

This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.

If you let websites push notifications to you, they appear in Notification Center on your Mac. For example, you can let a news website push updates, and then click its notification to go to the website. The website doesn’t have to be open in a Safari window, and Safari doesn’t even have to be open. Notifications require OS X v10.8 or later.

Do any of the following:
Option Description
See notifications in Notification Center: Click the Notification Center icon at the right end of the menu bar, or swipe left from the right edge of the screen.

To go to a website that sent you a notification, click the notification in Notification Center.

Change website notification permissions: Choose Safari > Preferences, click Notifications, then select Allow or Deny for a website.
Change website alert preferences: Open Notifications preferences, select the website on the left, then change the notification alert style and other settings on the right.
