Mail (Mavericks): Account Information preferences
Set or view general options for an account.

| Enable this account |
Make an account active or inactive. When you disable an account, it’s taken offline, and its mailboxes and messages don’t appear in Mail. |

The name of the account. The name appears in Mail. |
| Alias |
For an iCloud account, an alias used to send and receive messages. To sign in to your iCloud account to create or edit aliases, choose Edit Aliases. |
| Email Address |
One or more email addresses to use for sending messages. For an Exchange account, it’s the primary email address for the account on the Exchange server. Use a comma to separate addresses. The order of addresses here determines their order in the From pop-up menu in new messages. |
| Full Name |
The full name to display in your messages. Some accounts (such as Exchange) ignore this value and instead use the full name for the account on the server. |
| Use Autodiscover service |
For an Exchange account, this service ensures Mail connects to the most appropriate Exchange server, as configured by your system administrator. To turn off the service, deselect the checkbox, then enter information for the internal and external servers, as directed by your administrator. |
| Incoming Mail Server (or Internal Server and External Server) |
The name of the mail server or servers where messages are sent to you, such as mail.example.com. This information is typically provided by your account provider or system administrator. |
| User Name |
Your user name on the mail server. |
| Password |
Your password on the mail server. If you leave this field blank, Mail asks for your password each time you check messages. |
| Outgoing Mail Server |
The name of the mail server that sends your messages. This information is typically provided by your account provider. |
| Use only this server |
Use only the specified outgoing mail server to send messages. If deselected, Mail tries to find another available server when the specified server is unavailable. |
| TLS Certificate |
Use a TLS certificate for security. Some POP and IMAP mail servers require computers that connect to them to provide a certificate proving their identity. |
