iCloud preferences

Use iCloud preferences to sign in or out of iCloud, turn iCloud features on or off, view iCloud account details, or manage iCloud storage.

Option Description

List of features

Turn on the iCloud features you want to use.

To turn on Mail or Notes, your iCloud account must have an @icloud.com email address.

If the message “Waiting for approval” appears below Keychain, but you want to enter your iCloud Security Code or reset iCloud Keychain instead of approving this Mac from another device, click Details.

If Photos is on, and you want to turn My Photo Stream or Photo Sharing on or off, click Options.

If Documents & Data is on, and you want to select which apps use it to store documents in iCloud, click Options.

If Back to My Mac is on, you can easily connect via the Internet to other computers you set up for Back to My Mac, and then share files and use Screen Sharing.

If Find My Mac says Location Services is off, you must turn it on so you can locate this Mac. For instructions, click More.

Account Details

Manage the Apple ID used to sign in to iCloud, or change the account description on this Mac.

If Keychain is on, you can change whether your iCloud Security Code can be used to approve iCloud Keychain on new devices. You can also change the iCloud Security Code or the phone number used to verify your identity after you use the iCloud Security Code.

Sign Out

Stop using all iCloud features.

iCloud Storage

Your iCloud account includes 5 GB of free storage for your iOS device backups, documents and data, iOS device Camera Roll, and iCloud Mail account. Your purchased music, apps, books, and TV shows, as well as your photo stream, don’t count against your storage plan.

Manage

Click to see storage usage details, upgrade your storage, or free up storage.
