OS X Mavericks: Use Launchpad to view and open apps
This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.
Launchpad is a home for your apps.
When you download an app from the Mac App Store, it automatically appears in Launchpad.
You can:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Open apps: | Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, then click an app. |
| Move to the next or previous app page: | Swipe left or right on your trackpad or Magic Mouse. Or, press the arrow keys. |
| Rearrange an app: | Drag the app’s icon to a new location. |
| Move an app to another page: | Drag the app to the edge of the screen. Release the app when the page you want appears. |
| Have an app also appear in the Dock: | Drag the app’s icon to the Dock. |
| Create a folder: | Drag one app’s icon over another to create a folder, then drag other apps to the folder. |
| Change a folder’s name: | Click to open the folder, click the current name, then enter a new name. |
| Move an app out of a folder: | Click the folder to open it, then drag the app out. |
| Uninstall an app: | Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button (x). If an app doesn’t have a delete button, it can’t be uninstalled. You can uninstall apps you got from the Mac App Store, but not apps that are part of OS X, such as Safari and Mail. |
