Before you start, make sure your environment is at its normal noise level; try to avoid background conversations or excess noise.
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Accessibility, then click Speakable Items.
- Click Settings, choose a microphone, then click Calibrate.
- Read the instructions that appear, speak each phrase in the list, speak the phrases a second time, then click Done.
For best results, position yourself about two feet in front of the microphone, speak in a normal voice, and pause between phrases.
