Icon What it represents

Mail icon

Apps such as Mail, iTunes, and Safari.

Icon for PDF document

Documents you create such as text files and photos.

Folder icon

Folders for organizing your Mac.

Icon for an optical disc

Storage devices such as disks that store the information on your Mac.

Icon for a server

Disks located on a network or on the Internet, called “servers.”

Icon for an alias

Alias (shortcut) to open a file, folder, or app that may be located elsewhere on your computer.
