Show holiday or birthday calendars

The Holidays calendar shows national holidays based on your computer’s region.

The Birthdays calendar shows birthdays from the Contacts app. If you add calendars from your Facebook account or Google account, a separate Birthdays calendar shows the birthdays for those friends and contacts.

Show holidays

  1. In Calendar, choose Calendar > Preferences, then click General.

  2. Select “Show Holidays calendar.”

To change your region (to display different holidays), choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Language & Region, then choose your region. Switch back to Calendar, choose Calendar > Preferences, click General, then deselect “Show Holidays calendar” and select it again. For more information about changing your region, see Customize formats to display dates, times, and more.

Show birthdays

  1. In Calendar, choose Calendar > Preferences, then click General.

  2. Select “Show Birthdays calendar.”

When you add birthdays in Contacts, the Birthdays calendar is updated automatically.
