OS X Mountain Lion: Add a user picture

Your user picture appears next to your name in the login window if it’s set to display a list of users. Your user picture can also be used by apps such as Mail, Messages, and Contacts.
You can use one of the pictures that comes with OS X, or you can create a custom picture.
Use a picture included with OS X
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups.
- Select your user account, and then click the picture.
- Click to select the picture you want to use.
Create a custom picture
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups.
- Select your user account, click the picture, and then click Edit Picture.
- Do one of the following:

To use an image file, click Choose, select the file, and then click Open.

To take a picture with your computer’s built-in camera, click the camera button. After a countdown of three seconds, the camera takes your picture.

- Drag the slider to change the size of the picture, and drag the picture to change which part of the image appears.
- To save the picture, click Set.
