OS X Mountain Lion: Connect to the Internet
Use this information to set up your Internet connection. Follow the links below to enter your connection settings into Network preferences, depending on the type of connection and service you have.
Network Setup Assistant
If you know your account information and how you connect to the Internet, you can use the Network Setup Assistant to enter your connection settings. Click “Assist me” in Network preferences, and then click Assistant.
Account information
Make sure you have the account information you received from your service provider.
PPPoE
If you have a cable modem and use a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) account with your ISP, enter your PPPoE settings.
Ethernet and DSL
If you connect to the Internet using Ethernet, either to a DSL or cable modem, or to a local area network (LAN) that’s already connected to the Internet, enter your Ethernet settings in Network preferences.
Dial-up modem connections
If you use a dial-up Point-to-Point (PPP) modem connection, with an internal or external modem, a Bluetooth modem, or a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) modem, enter your connection settings in Network preferences.
