OS X Mountain Lion: Restart your computer automatically
You can set your computer to restart automatically after it loses power. Some computers can also restart automatically if they stop responding or have a kernel panic. Automatically restarting is useful if you use your computer as a server or need to access it remotely.
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Energy Saver.
- Choose when to restart your computer. (These options aren’t available on all computers.)
To restart your computer after it loses power, select “Start up automatically after a power failure.”
To restart your computer after it stops responding, has a kernel panic, or “freezes,” select “Restart automatically if the computer ‘freezes.’”
If you want certain apps to open automatically when the computer restarts, add them to your list of login items. For more information, see this help topic:
