Turn off Wi-Fi

If you have a Wi-Fi installed, turn it off when you’re in situations where radio communication may be prohibited, such as in an airplane or at a hospital.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
  2. Select AirPort in the list, and then click Turn AirPort Off.

If you disabled the AirPort service in Network preferences, then your Wi-Fi card is already turned off.

You can also use the AirPort status icon in the menu bar to turn Wi-Fi off. Select “Show AirPort status in the menu bar” in the AirPort pane of Network preferences.
