OS X Mountain Lion: If you can’t set date and time

If you can’t set date and time

You can’t set date and time if your computer is set to automatically get the date and time from a network time server.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Date & Time.
  2. Click Date & Time.
  3. Deselect the “Set date and time automatically” checkbox.

If you stop using a network time server, make sure the date and time are correct in Date & Time preferences before you close System Preferences. Incorrect dates and times can appear in documents you save and email messages you send, or can cause problems when you connect to the Internet.
