iPhone: Why does iTunes not show my mobile phone number?

When iPhone is connected to your computer, iTunes will display the iPhone telephone number in the Summary tab when iPhone is selected. This phone number will only be displayed if the SIM card inserted in your iPhone contains that information.

Note: This information applies to devices that use a SIM card.

For example, iPhones with service from AT&T (US) contain the phone number on the SIM card and therefore iTunes will display the number.

Other wireless carriers, such as O2 (UK), may not include the phone number on the SIM card and therefore it will not be displayed in iTunes.

If your wireless carrier does not support writing your mobile phone number on the SIM, you can use one of these alternate ways to determine your phone number:

  • Refer to the welcome kit your received from your wireless carrier.
  • Call someone else who has caller ID and ask them to tell you the number that is displayed.
  • Call your wireless carrier.
