Add and log medications with iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch
With iOS 16, iPadOS 17, and watchOS 9, you can add your medications in the Health app to help track and manage the medications, vitamins, and supplements you take.
Add a medication
If you're in the United States, you can type in the name of your medication and select form and strength details, or you can quickly add a medication by directing the camera on your iPhone XR or later at the medication label. If your medication isn't listed in the database, or if you're outside of the United States, you can add a medication by typing in the name.
Manually add a medication
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Health app.
If you're on your iPhone, tap Browse. If you're on your iPad, tap
to open the sidebar.Tap Medications, then tap Add Medication. If you are using Health Records on iPhone or iPad, you'll see suggestions from your health records.
Enter the name of the medication in the Search field.
If you're in the United States, and the medication is listed, tap the medication.
If you're outside of the United States, or the medication is not listed, tap Add, then tap Next.
Choose the Medication Type. If the medication is unlisted, enter the Strength of the medication or select No Strength Information.
Tap Next.
Tap Frequency to select an interval, then tap Done.
Tap Add a time to further specify when you take the medication, then tap Next.
Choose the shape of your medication and tap Next, or you can tap Skip.
Select the color of the Medication and Background to customize it.
Review your Medication details and enter any Optional Details, then tap Next.
Select any life factors that might pose an interaction risk with your medication, then tap Done.*
After adding your medications, you can scroll to the More section of the Medications screen and tap Export PDF to save or share a copy of your current medications.
If you share your health data with family and friends, you can also include which medications you're taking. Learn more about how to share and view health data in the Health app.
Add a medication with your camera
On your iPhone XR or later, open the Health app.
Tap Browse, then tap Medications.
Tap Add Medication.
Tap the camera icon, then tap Get Started. If prompted, allow the Health app to access your camera.
Position the medication label in the frame.
Tap Next.
Tap Frequency to select an interval, then tap Done.
Tap Add a time to further specify when you take the medication, then tap Next.
Choose the shape of your medication and tap Next, or you can tap Skip.
Select the color of the Medication and Background to customize it.
Review your Medication details and enter any Optional Details, then tap Next.
After adding your medications, you can scroll to the More section of the Medications screen and tap Export PDF to save or share a copy of your current medications.

Log a medication
You can log a medication from the Health app on your iPhone or iPad or from the Medications app on your Apple Watch.
On your iPhone or iPad
Open the Health app.
If you're on your iPhone, tap Browse. If you're on your iPad, tap
to open the sidebar.Tap Medications.
Tap the
next to the medication. For As Needed medications, you can tap the medication, then tap Log.Tap Skipped or Taken, then tap Done.
On your Apple Watch
Open the
.Tap a medication.
Tap Log as Taken to log the medication. You can also tap Skipped then Done if you did not take the medication.
If the medication is one you take as needed, you can scroll to the medication on the Your Medications list, tap it, then tap Log.
Log medications from a reminder
Your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch can also alert you when it's time to take the medications on your schedule. From the Health app on your iPhone, tap Browse, then tap Medications. Scroll down and tap Options, then turn on Dose Reminders. You can also turn on follow up reminders which will alert you if you haven't logged a medication 30 minutes after the initial notification.
When you receive a reminder:
On your iPhone or iPad, tap the notification, then tap Skipped or Taken.
On your Apple Watch, tap the notification, then tap Skipped, Taken, or Remind Me in 10 Minutes.
If you change time zones, you'll also receive a notification that your time zone has changed. Tap the notification and confirm the details of your medication schedule.
Remove a medication
If you're no longer taking a medication, you can archive it to remove it from your list of medications. If a medication was added in error, you can delete it.
Archive a medication to keep the medication details and log history for your records.
Delete a medication to remove all information and history of the medication.
Archive a medication
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Health app.
If you're on your iPhone, tap Browse. If you're on your iPad, tap
to open the sidebar.Tap Medications, then scroll to Your Medications.
Swipe left on a medication, then tap Archive.
The medication appears in your Archived Medications list.
Delete a medication
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Health app.
If you're on your iPhone, tap Browse. If you're on your iPad, tap
to open the sidebar.Tap Medications.
Scroll to Your Medications, then tap the medication you want to delete.
Scroll to Options, then tap Delete Medication.
Tap Delete Medication.
Review your interactions
If you're in the United States, you can see if any of the medications you're taking pose a Moderate, Serious, or Critical drug interaction.
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Health app.
If you're on your iPhone, tap Browse. If you're on your iPad, tap
to open the sidebar.Tap Medications.
Scroll to Your Medications, then tap Drug Interactions.
Select an interaction to read a summary of the interaction information.
You can also tap Edit next to Interaction Factors to change which medication factors the Health app checks for.
View medication history
After you log a medication, you can review how frequently you took or skipped the medication, as well as highlights over the past 28 days.
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Health app.
If you're on your iPhone, tap Browse. If you're on your iPad, tap
to open the sidebar.Tap Medications.
Scroll to Your Medications, then tap a medication.
Unlisted medications are not included in potential drug interactions. Drug interactions are available only in the United States.
