Get a refund for purchases made with credit or debit cards using Apple Pay

To return and get a refund for something that you bought using Apple Pay, you might need to provide some additional information.

You can generally return purchases made using Apple Pay by providing the receipt. When the merchant processes your refund, it goes back to your payment card automatically. If you don't have the receipt or the merchant asks for more information, you can provide the Apple Pay card number for your payment card.

Find your Apple Pay card number

To process refunds for purchases made using Apple Pay, the merchant uses the Apple Pay card number of your payment card, instead of the debit or credit card number from your physical card. Some merchants might not require the Apple Pay card number.

How to find the Apple Pay card number of a payment card on your iPhone

  1. On your iPhone, open the Wallet app.

  2. Tap the card that you used to make the purchase.

  3. Tap the More buttonNo alt supplied for Image, then tap Card Number.

On this screen, you can see the last four digits of the Apple Pay card number for your payment card.

  1. On your Apple Watch, open the Wallet app.

  2. Tap the card that you used to make the purchase.

  3. Scroll down and tap Card Information.

Get a refund to a payment card that you use with Apple Pay

  1. If the merchant needs your payment card to process the refund, open the Wallet app on the device that you used to make the purchase.

  2. Tap the card that you want to be refunded.

  3. Double-click the side button. You might need to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

  4. Hold your device near the contactless reader.

Your refund might take several days to appear on your card statement.
