Apply to publish to Apple News
Apple is committed to maintaining a trusted, informative news environment by advancing quality journalism. Apple News is a distribution platform for professional publications of a journalistic nature.
To publish in Apple News Format, you must submit an application that includes information about your publication and at least three sample articles. The Apple News team then reviews your application and notifies you by email if your channel is approved or if additional information is needed.
Your application is likely to be rejected if your publication is:
Not editorial or journalistic in nature
A personal blog or portfolio
Based outside countries where Apple News is available (Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States)
Primarily promoting a business, service, or nonprofit
Primarily reposting and redistributing others’ content
Publishing factual inaccuracies or failing to adhere to widely accepted journalistic standards
Start your application
Go to icloud.com/newspublisher using a supported browser, then sign in with your Apple ID.
If you don’t have an Apple ID, click Create Apple ID at the bottom of the page.
Note: The Apple ID you sign in with should not be your personal Apple ID. You should create an Apple ID specifically for your publication to avoid mixing personal and business data.
Enter your channel information.
The channel name should match the name of your publication. Don’t include a description, URL, or any other text as part of the channel name.
During this process you’re asked to choose an audience for your content—General, Mature, or Children. Your choice influences the kinds of ads that appear in your channel. See Ads on Apple News User Guide for more information. Also, if a channel is marked as Mature and a user enables Parental Controls on their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, the channel doesn’t appear in News on that device.
Note: Apple News supports content only in English and Canadian French. If you select a different language and Apple News later adds support for that language, you’ll be notified by email.
Upload your logo and channel icon (optional).
Your logo and channel icon must be type-based (do not include graphics or images). They appear in a number of places in News. If you don’t have a logo or channel icon, News Publisher creates them for you.
Important: For your logo and channel icon to appear, they must adhere to the logo and channel icon specifications.
Enter your contact information, then click Next.
In the Publisher Name field, enter your publishing company’s legal name. If you sign up as an individual, enter your first and last name.
Make sure your contact info is up to date. Emails from the Apple News team are sent to the email addresses you provide.
Enter your editorial information, then click Done.
Submit your application for review
To complete your application, you need to provide at least three sample articles for the Apple News team to review. The articles should show the Apple News team what kind of content you’d like to publish. You can create the articles in your content management system (CMS) and deliver them with the Apple News API, or you can create the articles in a text editor and upload them to News Publisher.
On the “Choose how to publish” page, choose how you want to create your articles:
Using a CMS: Click Connect Your CMS.
Using a text editor: Create your articles in a text editor, then in News Publisher, click Upload Article.
After you’ve added at least three sample articles, click Submit at the bottom of the page.
Note: You must submit your application within 90 days.
If your channel is approved, you can immediately start publishing articles without further review or approval.
If you have more than one publication, you can submit applications for additional channels. See Add or share a channel in News Publisher.
