
Upload ANF articles in News Publisher
In addition to creating articles in News Publisher and your CMS, you can hand code articles in a text editor. Follow these steps to upload and preview those articles in the News app.
Upload an article
Go to icloud.com, sign in, then click News Publisher.
Click Articles, then in the sidebar, click Draft Articles, All Published Articles, or a section.
Click Upload Article (above the list of articles), select the folder on your computer that contains the article’s elements (at minimum, the article.json file and its referenced images), select the elements, then click Choose or Open (depending on your browser).
A window appears that displays the upload progress.
If the upload fails: Fix any errors, then click Re-Upload Article.
If the article uploads successfully but with warnings: Address any issues, then click Update Article.
Note: You can view any warnings at a later time by clicking Draft Articles, then clicking the orange dot next to the article.
Preview the article in the News app
After you successfully upload an article, follow these steps to open the article in the News app:
On a device with iOS 9 or later, iPadOS 13 or later, or macOS 10.14 or later, sign in to iCloud.com on the device with the Apple ID you use for News Publisher.
On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud. On a Mac with macOS 10.15 or later, go to System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud. On a Mac with macOS 10.14, go to System Preferences > iCloud. Have iCloud turned on for News.
Go to icloud.com, sign in, then click News Publisher.
Click Articles, then in the sidebar, click Draft Articles.
Click
to open the Preview Article window.If you’re using Safari on macOS 10.14 or later, click the View button next to the URL to open the article in News on your Mac.
To preview the article on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, click the Copy button, and share the preview link to your device (via email, AirDrop, or message, for example). Then open Safari on the device and enter the link.
News launches and the article preview appears in the Drafts section.
