פקודות LaTeX

באופן כללי, LaTeX מחייב שמשוואות יהיו ממוסגרות בפקודות של מצב מתמטי כמו בדוגמאות המפורטות בהמשך. כדי להפוך את העריכה של משוואות לפשוטה יותר, עורכי המשוואות ב-Pages‏, ב-Numbers, ב-Keynote וב-iBooks Author נמצאים במצב מתמטי כברירת מחדל, כך שאין צורך להוסיף למשוואות פקודות מצב מתמטי.

כדי להוסיף למשוואה טקסט שיקבל בירושה את סגנון הפסקה, השתמשו בפקודה ‎\text{…}‎. אין תמיכה במשוואות מקוננות ב-‎\text{...}‎.

במצב מתמטי, blahtex אינו תומך באופן מלא בתווי Unicode שאינם ASCII, אך הוא כן מקבל את תו ה-Unicode המלא שהוגדר במצב מלל. למידע נוסף על תווים ספציפיים, כגון סמל זכויות יוצרים ותווים עם סימני ניקוד, עיינו במדריך ל-blahtex (באנגלית), 2.22.
