Terminal Advanced preferences
Use Advanced preferences in Terminal to set the emulation and character encoding for a window profile. To open this pane, choose Terminal > Preferences, click Profiles, then click Advanced.
You can create a new profile or modify an existing profile.

Input | Select checkboxes to enable Terminal input behaviors.

Bell | Select checkboxes to enable Terminal notifications. To be alerted with a sound, select “Audible bell.” To be alerted with a flash, select “Visual bell.” To be alerted with a flash when the sound is muted, select “Visual bell” and “Only when sound is muted.” To display the number of sessions in the background that had a bell character (Control-G or \a) written to them, select “Badge app and window Dock icons.” To bounce the Dock icon when a session in the background has a bell character written to it, select “Bounce app icon when in background.” To bounce the Dock icon continuously when a session in the background has a bell character written to it, select “Bounce app icon when in background” and “Continue bouncing until in foreground.” | ||||||||||
International | To change the character encoding, click the “Text encoding” pop-up menu, then choose a character encoding. To configure the environment for this encoding, select “Set locale environment variables on startup.” Unicode East Asian Ambiguous characters are wide: If this checkbox is selected, the characters are treated as East Asian Wide. If not selected, they are treated as East Asian Narrow. |
