Setup Assistant pane options in Apple devices
You can have all Setup Assistant panes skipped using mobile device management (MDM) and Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager. Sometimes you may not want users to make specific choices about how their devices are initially configured. You may be able prevent users from initially configuring supervised Apple devices as long as they are enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution and managed by Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager. The device must support the feature for configuration to be permitted. For example, if the device lacks support for Touch ID, the Touch ID setup screen doesn’t appear.
If your organization is using either Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager to enroll devices and a mobile device management (MDM) solution to manage them:
A device can be kept in Setup Assistant while it’s configured by your MDM solution, before the user starts interacting with it.
Setup Assistant panes can be skipped so that a user can’t interact with them. When a panes is skipped, the default setting for that feature is used.
Consult your MDM vendor’s documentation to learn which Setup Assistant panes they support hiding from the user during setup.
Important: Unless you also permanently restrict these features using your MDM solution, users can set up any of the settings that were set to the default values after the Apple device is set up.
