Manage iCloud passwords on your Windows computer
When you set up iCloud Passwords in iCloud for Windows, you can manage your passwords in the iCloud Passwords app on your Windows computer. You can also generate verification codes for accounts that require two-factor authentication.
View and use account information
Click the account you want to view.
Note: If you see
next to an account, the password is in a shared group.You can copy the user name, password, website, verification code, or note. Do either of the following:
Click
, then choose an option.Right-click the user name, password, website, verification code, or note, then choose Copy [item].
Note: If you selected not to save a password in iCloud Keychain or iCloud Passwords, you see “never saved” in the passwords field.
Add an account
When you add an account to iCloud Passwords, you can access it on your Apple devices that have iCloud Keychain turned on.
Click
next to the search field.Enter the website, user name, password, and any notes.
You can click the “Generate strong password” button to have iCloud Passwords suggest a strong password for you.
If you want to add the password to a shared group, click the Group pop-up menu, then choose an option.
Notes are also shared with the other members of the group.
Click Add Password.
You can also add or update a password or user name in a web browser with the iCloud Passwords extension.
Edit account details and verification codes
If you change the user name or password for an account, you can update it in the iCloud Passwords app. You can also edit the password note and verification code, and add a custom label. Those changes stay up to date on your Apple devices that have iCloud Keychain turned on.
Important: If you change the password for an account in iCloud Passwords, make sure you also update it on the website so you can continue to sign in.
Click the account you want to update.
To edit the user name, password, or note, or add a custom label, click
, then make any changes.To edit or delete the verification code, click
, then do any of the following:Copy the two-factor authentication setup key provided by the website, then paste it into the “setup key field” in the iCloud Passwords app.
Click Delete Verification Code, then click Delete Verification Code again.
Click Save.
Note: If you selected not to save a password in iCloud Keychain or iCloud Passwords, you can’t edit the account. You can only delete it.
View your password history
You can see the previous versions of a password for an account, along with the dates the password was changed. You can also clear the history of changes.
Click All in the sidebar, then select the password.
Click View History.
The history of changes also reveals whether or not you shared or unshared the password with a shared password group.
To show the password, click
.
To remove the history of changes, click Clear History.
Delete an account
When you delete an account from iCloud Passwords, it’s also deleted on your Apple devices that have iCloud Keychain turned on.
Click the account you want to delete.
Click
, then click Delete Password.
