Change camera audio settings in Final Cut Camera
When you record with Final Cut Camera, you can choose a source for audio input, such as your device’s built-in microphones, external microphones with a USB-C connector, and more. You can also switch between Stereo and Spatial Audio recording.
You can monitor the input volume using the meter on the camera screen.
Set the camera audio source
Go to the Final Cut Camera app
on your iPhone or iPad.
In the camera screen, tap
, then tap Audio.
In the Input Source section, tap
next to Source, then tap the audio input.
If you don’t see your audio input, make sure the audio device is connected to and recognized by your device.

Switch between Stereo and Spatial Audio recording
On iPhone 16, you can choose to record in Stereo or Spatial Audio. Spatial Audio recording on iPhone allows users to capture immersive, three-dimensional audio with spatial depth using the multiple microphones on iPhone.
Note: Spatial Audio recording is not available in Live Multicam sessions.
Go to the Final Cut Camera app
on your iPhone.
In the camera screen, tap
, tap Audio, then tap one of the following under Format:
Stereo: Separates audio playback between the left and right channels.
Spatial Audio: Audio playback is immersive from all directions on supported playback devices.

Note: AirPods switch automatically between Apple devices. If you’re wearing AirPods, keep in mind that device switching or AirPods notifications may interrupt your Live Multicam session.
