Use the Permissions pane of Classroom preferences to choose your preferences for joining classes and to choose whether to let teachers control your Mac, lock your Mac, view your screen, and share your screen using AirPlay. The settings in the Permissions pane apply to all your classes. Classroom preferences only appears when you’re using a Mac managed by a school or institution.
To change these preferences on your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Classroom , then click Permissions.
Note: If your classes were installed by a mobile device management (MDM) system, the Permissions pane might not be available, or might not provide all the options listed below.

Join classes
Choose how you join classes when they start. You can join classes automatically or manually.
Automatically: Your computer joins automatically when the teacher starts the class.
Manually: Your computer joins the class when the teacher requests control of your Mac.
After you join a class, the teacher can access and control your Mac during the class. For example, the teacher can open apps, websites, and documents on your Mac.
Lock Mac
Specify whether to allow teachers to lock your Mac. When a teacher locks your Mac, you can’t use it until the teacher unlocks it.
Always: Teachers can lock your Mac without asking permission.
Ask: Teachers must request permission to lock your Mac. When asked permission, you can choose Always Allow, Deny, or Allow.
If you choose Always Allow, your Mac is locked until the teacher unlocks it, the Lock Mac setting in the Permissions pane of Classroom preferences is changed to Always, and you aren’t asked for permission again.
If you choose Deny, the teacher is notified that you denied permission to lock your Mac, and you’ll be asked the next time the teacher wants to lock your Mac.
If you choose Allow, your Mac is locked until the teacher unlocks it, and you’ll be asked next time the teacher wants to lock your Mac.
Never: Teachers can never lock your Mac. If a teacher tries to lock your Mac, you aren’t notified or asked permission, and the teacher is notified that you denied permission to lock your Mac.
AirPlay and View Screen
Choose whether to allow teachers to view your screen and use AirPlay to stream content from your Mac to an Apple TV.
Always: Teachers can view and share your screen without asking permission.
Ask: Teachers must request permission to view or share your screen. When asked permission, you can choose Always Allow, Deny, or Allow.
If you choose Always Allow, the teacher can view or share your screen, the AirPlay and View Screen setting in the Permissions pane of Classroom preferences is changed to Always, and you aren’t asked for permission again.
If you choose Deny, the teacher is notified that you denied permission to view or share your screen, and you’re asked the next time the teacher wants to view or share your screen.
If you choose Allow, the teacher can view or share your screen, and you’re asked the next time the teacher wants to view or share your screen.
Never: Teachers can never view or share your screen. If a teacher tries to view or share your screen, you aren’t notified or asked permission, and the teacher is notified that you denied permission to view or share your screen.
When the teacher is viewing or displaying your screen, the AirPlay icon appears on the teacher’s name or picture in the Classes pane of Classroom preferences, and the AirPlay icon in the menu bar changes color.
