Fix sync errors -5000, -69, 13010, and 13014

Learn what to do if you have trouble syncing music from iTunes or Finder on your Mac to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Update your software

  1. Update your Mac to the latest version of macOS.

  2. Update your device to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.

  3. If you're using macOS Mojave or earlier, update to the latest version of iTunes.

  4. Sync again.

Consolidate the media files in your music library

Your music library might store media files in several locations. If you consolidate your files, you can correct permissions and simplify syncing.

  1. Consolidate your files to store your content in one location.

  2. Sync again.

Check for issues with third-party security software

Some third-party software, including security software, can interfere with the sync process between your computer and your device.

  1. Check if your security software might be causing an issue.

  2. Sync again.

If you still see the error

In some cases, there might be an issue with specific songs that you're trying to sync.

  • Check if the error message names the songs causing the issue.

  • Sync only a few songs at a time. Add more until the issue happens again.

If you bought a song from the iTunes Store, delete it and redownload it. You can also get songs directly on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If you copied songs from a CD or didn't buy them from the iTunes Store, delete the songs. Import them again from the original source.
