Set up your teacher-created class in Classroom
You can create a teacher-created class with Classroom without using an MDM solution.
Enter your information and create your first class
Open the Classroom app on your iPad, then enter the name you want your students to see (For example, Mr Smith).
Tap the image icon to take or choose a photo, then tap Done.
To change it later, tap your icon in the upper left and change your name or photo.
Tap Create Class , then enter the name for your class and an optional description, select an icon and background colour for that class, then tap Done.
Create additional classes
Open the Classroom app on your iPad, then tap Add in the Classroom window or in the upper right of the window.
Enter the name for your class and an optional description, and select an icon and background colour for that class.
Remove a class
Open the Classroom app on your iPad, then tap Edit.
Tap the X to remove the class, then tap Delete.
Invite students to join your class
Your advertised class is ready for enrolment, and a student can browse for that class by choosing Settings > Classroom on their iPad. Students add the class by entering a four-digit PIN (personal identification number) provided by you. A student can join more than one class — by the same or different teachers — making it easy for students to move from room to room with their iPad.
Open the Classroom app on your iPad, then in the row of actions, tap Add Student .
Note: It may take up to 10 seconds for the class to appear.
Tell the students to do one of the following:
On their Mac, choose System Preferences > Classroom and click “Add Class name”.
On their iPad, choose Settings > Classroom and tap “Add Class name”.
If your students have a Me Card, they can use or change their name and photo.
When you’re ready for students to join, display the class invitation PIN code on the Apple TV for all students to see.
After a student adds the class, that student appears in the window. A tickbox appears next to the students’ names, indicating they’re going to be part of this class.
Review the list of students and deselect the ones you don’t want in the class, then tap Add.
You can add more students at any time.
After you have students in your class, you can now manage the class experience. See the following:
