Select and purchase content in Apple Business Manager
You can purchase apps and books through the Apps and Books Store in Apple Business Manager. You can also purchase Custom Apps and Unlisted Apps, which are tailored to your organisation’s specific needs from developers you work with directly.
Note: You must set up your payment method before you can obtain app licences, even if they are free.
Search for an app or book
In Apple Business Manager
, sign in as a user that has the role of Administrator or Content Manager.Tap Apps and Books
in the sidebar, then search for an app or book in the search field. See How to search.Select the app or book from the list.
Purchase licences
In Apple Business Manager
, sign in as a user that has the role of Administrator or Content Manager.Select the app or book in the search results list that you want to purchase.
Select the location to which the app or book licences will be initially assigned.
Enter the number of licences and, if necessary, change the payment method, then tap Buy.
The time frame for processing app licences depends on how many you purchase. If you purchased:
5,000 licences or fewer, they are immediately processed
5,001 to 19,999 licences, they are processed daily after 1:00 pm, US Pacific time
20,000 licences or more, they are processed daily after 4:00 pm, US Pacific time
Purchase app codes
In certain cases, you may want to purchase redemption codes. These codes can be redeemed by users to get apps, which are then owned by each user’s Apple ID. Redemption codes can be distributed only to users within the same country or region as your organisation. For example, users in Canada will be unable to redeem content codes provided by an organisation that enrolled in Apple Business Manager with an address in the United States. Redemption codes are not available in South Korea.
Important: Codes, once redeemed, cannot be reassigned to other users.

Select Redemption Codes from the Licence Type pop-up menu, enter a quantity, then tap Buy.
