Promise VTrak: How to create a Subsystem Report

Follow these steps to collect Subsystem Reports from Promise VTrak RAID Head units.

Follow these steps to collect Subsystem Reports from Promise VTrak RAID Head units. Subsystem Reports contain a description of a VTrak RAID's configuration. If an SAS-Connected Expansion Chassis is connected to the RAID Head, the Expansion Chassis' configuration info will also be collected. Each VTrak RAID Head generates a unique report, so this procedure may need to be performed against multiple RAID Heads.

  1. Connect to the VTrak RAID via the WebPAM PROe administration tool. Later versions of Promise VTrak firmware support Bonjour discovery. If you are unfamiliar with how to locate the Promise RAID on the network, refer to a current version of the Product Manual. If an alert appears in your web browser, see this article.

  2. Authenticate when prompted. If you are not certain which administrator name and password is assigned to the Promise RAID, refer to the Product Manual.

  3. Select "Administrative Tools" from the left-hand column.

  4. Click "Save System Service Report".

  5. Click the Save button on the Information tab.

At this point, a file called subsysteminfo will be saved to your Downloads folder. You may consider renaming the file such that it is unique to the VTrak that generated the report.
