Set up your TV to play and control video using Siri
Find out how to set up your TV to use Siri to play a video in a room where you want to watch it, send a video you’re watching on your iPhone to your TV and control your TV with just your voice.

Here’s what you’ll need
An iPhone, iPad or HomePod
An Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD or AirPlay-compatible smart TV
First add your TV to the Home app
Before you can use Siri on your iPhone or iPad to play and control video on your TV, you must add your TV to the Home app.
Add your Apple TV to the Home app
Open Settings on your Apple TV.
Select AirPlay and HomeKit.
Select Room, then choose a room or add a new room.
Add your AirPlay-compatible smart TV to the Home app
Turn on your TV.
Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad, tap
, then tap Add Accessory.Scan the QR code on the TV and follow the instructions on your iPhone or iPad to add it. Consult your TV manufacturer or manual to determine how to access the QR code.
Assign your TV to a room and name it to help you identify and control it.
Then ask Siri to play and control video
After you’ve added your TV to the Home app, you can ask Siri on your iPhone or iPad to play and control video.1,2
Ask Siri to play video on your Apple TV:
“Play Greenland on the living room TV.”
“Watch the latest episode of Ted Lasso on the bedroom Apple TV.”
Use Siri to send what you’re watching to your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TV:
“Play this on the living room TV.”
“Play this on the bedroom Apple TV.”
Ask Siri to turn your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TV on or off, or to play, pause, rewind and control what’s playing on your Apple TV:
“Turn on the living room TV.”
“Stop the bedroom Apple TV.”
“Play the bedroom Apple TV.”
“Skip 30 seconds on the living room TV.”
