Listen with Personalised Spatial Audio for AirPods and Beats
With Personalised Spatial Audio, you can use the TrueDepth camera on your iPhone to create a personal profile for Spatial Audio that delivers a listening experience tuned just for you.
What you need
To set up Personalised Spatial Audio, you’ll need an iPhone with iOS 16 or later and the TrueDepth camera.
After you’ve signed in with your Apple Account, you can use Personalised Spatial Audio on these devices:
AirPods Pro 1 or 2, AirPods Max, AirPods 3 or later, Beats Fit Pro, Beats Solo 4, or Beats Studio Pro
Audio-visual content from a supported app
An iPhone running iOS 16 or later; an iPad running iPadOS 16.1 or later; an Apple Watch running watchOS 9 or later; an Apple TV running tvOS 16 or later; a Mac computer with Apple silicon and running macOS Ventura or later; or Vision Pro running the latest version of visionOS
Set up Personalised Spatial Audio
With your AirPods or Beats connected to your iPhone, go to Settings > [your Spatial Audio enabled device] > Personalised Spatial Audio > Personalise Spatial Audio. On your Vision Pro, go to Settings > Bluetooth, then turn on Personalised Spatial Audio.
To capture the Front view, hold your iPhone directly in front of you, about 30cm (12 inches) away. Position your face in the camera frame, then slowly move your head in a circle to show all angles of your face. Tap Continue.
To capture a view of your right ear, hold your iPhone with your right hand. Move your right arm 45 degrees to your right, then turn your head slowly to the left. To capture a view of your left ear, switch your iPhone to your left hand. Move your left arm 45 degrees to your left, then turn your head slowly to the right. Audio and visual cues will help you finish the setup process.
Turn off Personalised Spatial Audio
With your AirPods or Beats connected to your iPhone, go to Settings > [your Spatial Audio enabled device] > Personalized Spatial Audio > Stop Using Personalised Spatial Audio. On your Vision Pro, go to Settings > Bluetooth, then turn off Personalised Spatial Audio.
Security safeguards
Camera data used to develop your profile is processed entirely on your device and images are not stored. Your personal profile for Spatial Audio will sync across your Apple devices using end-to-end encryption if you use iCloud, and this cannot be read by Apple.
