Use FaceTime or other video-conferencing apps instead of Keynote Live

To share a Keynote slideshow live over the internet, use FaceTime or another video-conferencing app instead of Keynote Live, which is no longer available.

For the best experience when sharing a slideshow in a video conference, update to the latest version of the Keynote app and to the latest version of macOS, iOS or iPadOS on your device.

Share your slideshow with FaceTime

You can play your presentation during a FaceTime call so the call’s participants can view it at the same time on their own devices. You can quickly share your slideshow in a window while on a FaceTime call – or present in full-screen mode.

Share your slideshow quickly on Mac

To share your slideshow quickly while on a FaceTime call on Mac, simply click the Play buttonPlay button in Keynote with your slideshow open, then click Share Slideshow. The slideshow window and the presenter display will appear in two windows on your screen, while the slideshow window will be shared with the FaceTime participants.

Present your slideshow in full screen on your Mac

  1. Start your FaceTime call, then click the FaceTime buttonFaceTime button in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  2. In the pop-up menu, click the Share Screen buttonShare Screen button, then click Window.

  3. Open your slideshow in Keynote, then select the slide you want to start with in the editor.

  4. Choose Play > In Fullscreen, click the Play buttonPlay button, then click Share Slideshow.

    • If you have one display, the slideshow will appear in full screen on your Mac and for the participants of the FaceTime call.

    • If you have two displays, the presenter display will appear on one of your displays – and the slideshow will appear in full screen on your other display and for the participants of the FaceTime call.

  5. To stop sharing your presentation, click the FaceTime buttonFaceTime button in the menu bar, then click Stop Sharing this Window.

Share your Keynote presentation with other apps

Other video-conferencing apps, such as Zoom and Webex, support screen sharing on iPhone, iPad and Mac. You may need to initiate a screen sharing session before starting playback in Keynote. If you are presenting in a window on Mac, the presenter display will be hidden from other participants.

For more information on sharing your screen through a third-party video-conferencing app, see the documentation that comes with the app you’re using.
