About genuine iPhone batteries

If you need to replace your iPhone battery, it's important to get a repair by certified technicians who use genuine Apple batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive components and should be manufactured and serviced with care. Battery replacements should be performed only by technicians who have completed Apple service training and who use Apple genuine parts and tools. These service providers include Apple Authorized Service Providers, or Independent Repair Providers using genuine Apple parts. Don't attempt to replace the iPhone battery yourself. Replacements performed by untrained technicians might not follow proper safety and repair procedures and could result in improper replacement or repair. This could also damage the battery, cause overheating, or result in injury.

Additionally, if a service provider uses nongenuine battery parts, the replacement battery might be:

You might see an additional notification that says, "Apple has updated the device information for this iPhone." This means that Apple has updated the device information maintained for this iPhone for service needs, safety analysis, and to improve future products.

These notifications donʼt affect your ability to use your iPhone or your battery.

You will see a notification on your lock screen for the first 4 days that you use your device, and in the Settings app for 15 days. After that period, you can find the notification by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

Where to get service

You can get your iPhone battery replaced at an Apple Store, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or by sending it to an Apple Repair Center. For out-of-warranty battery replacements, Independent Repair Providers will also offer genuine parts by trained technicians. All of these service providers offer genuine Apple battery parts.
