Accept preinstalled Pro Apps on your new Mac

You might need to accept some apps in the App Store before you can update them. These apps include preinstalled apps that aren't part of macOS, such as FinalCut and MainStage.

How to accept apps

  1. On your Mac, open the App Store app.
  2. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. If you don't see your name, click the sign-in button , then sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. If you have any unaccepted apps, the App Store shows an Accept button and a list of apps that you can accept. Click Accept. You might be asked to sign in again with your Apple ID.
  4. After you accept the apps, click Updates to check for updates to your apps.

If you accepted the apps and you still see an error when you update, update the software on your Mac.

Don't see an app that you expect to see? Redownload the app.
