Update your iPhone or iPad to latest version of iOS or iPadOS

Play an episode in Apple Podcasts

1. Open the Podcasts app.

2. Search or browse for a show you want to play.

3. Tap the Play button on the episode you want to play. If you want to listen to the most recent episode, tap Latest Episode on the show page.

Watch video podcasts

Some podcasts might have video versions of the show that you can watch in the Podcasts app.

How to watch a video podcast

1. Open the Podcasts app.

2. Search for a show with video and play it.

3. Tap the mini player at the bottom of the screen.

4. Under the track position bar, tap Turn Video On to play the video version of the podcast. Tap Turn Video Off to play the audio version.

   

You can use Picture in Picture to continue playing the video while you use other apps. If you close the Picture in Picture, the audio version of the show will continue playing. Pause the show to stop playback.

Change your video podcasts preferences

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap Apps, then tap Podcasts.

   • Stream video over only Wi-Fi: go to Video Streaming preferences and turn Allow Over Cellular off.

   • Automatically download video versions of a show: go to Automatic Downloads and turn Download Video on. You can choose if you want to download over cellular data by tapping Allow Over Cellular, then selecting Audio Only or Video.

Edit your queue

1. Open the Podcasts app.

2. Search for the show you'd like to add to your queue.

3. Tap the show to see its information page and find the episode you'd like to add.

4. Tap the More button next to the episode.

5. Tap Play Next to play the episode after your current episode ends, or tap Add to Queue to put the episode at the end of your queue.

6. To change the order of your For You queue or your custom queue, tap the mini player at the bottom of the screen, then tap the Queue button.

7. To move the episode, press and drag the Reorder button.

How to speed up or slow down a podcast episode

1. Open the Podcasts app and start listening to an episode.

2. Tap the mini player at the bottom of the screen to expand the audio controls.

3. Tap the Playback Speed button, then choose a speed from the menu that appears. You can also press and drag the speed menu to get a specific playback speed.
