Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

iMac (24-inch, 2024, Two ports)

iMac (24-inch, 2024, Four ports)

Tools

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

Caution

Place the housing on a clean, flat surface or soft cloth to avoid scratching it.

The housing includes the following removable parts, which are available separately:

  • Ambient light sensor and microphone flex cable

  • Audio board

  • Audio board and power button flex cable

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna

  • Wi-Fi antenna

The housing includes the following nonremovable parts, which are not available separately:

  • Display hangers

  • Speakers

  • Speaker back volumes

  • Center Wi-Fi antenna

  1. To remove the microphone flex cable, first gently release the adhesive between the flex cable and the housing.

  2. Use the flat end of the black stick to press and hold the PUSH button on the zero-insertion force (ZIF) microphone connector (1). While pressing the button, slide the end of the microphone flex cable out of the connector (2).

Reassembly

  1. To reinstall the microphone flex cable, slide the end of the flex cable into the connector.

  2. Press the microphone flex cable to adhere it to the housing.

    • Important: Route the microphone flex cable under the audio board and power button flex cable.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
