New in MainStage 3.6.6

Sampler, Quick Sampler, and Quick Alchemy

  • Resolves an issue where Sampler might run out of voices prematurely when using a lot of sustain pedal presses.

Plug-ins

  • The Arpeggiator now continues to play when switching patches while Sustain is being held if Latch to Sustain is active.

Mixer

  • The Alias Parent badge is now immediately removed from a channel strip after the Alias is deleted.

MIDI

  • Incoming MSB and LSB messages are now transmitted properly to channel strips.

Key Commands

  • The Channel Strip: Show Original/Show Next Alias key command now selects the channel strip as expected.

MIDI

  • External Instrument channels sending Bank select messages now send the correct sequence of MSB and then LSB messages.

Mappings

  • Mixer or plug-in controls mapped to the same Workspace object now maintain their relative positions when controlled from the object.

Undo

  • Undo now works after changing the output of a channel from stereo to mono.

Logic Remote

  • The mute button on the master fader in in Logic Remote now updates when it is engaged in MainStage.

  • Saving MainStage concerts from Logic Remote now works reliably.

  • When adjusting knobs or faders on multiple selected channels in MainStage, all the corresponding controls in Logic Remote now update.

General

  • Notes sustained over Patch changes are no longer cut off when a MIDI Transformer plug-in is active.

  • The Screen Control inspector now immediately updates to reflect changes in channel strip selection.

  • Clicking the Layer MIDI Input Bypassed button in the Layer Editor no longer causes the view to unexpectedly switch to the Plug-in Library.

Channel Strips Area

Workspace

  • Fixes an issue where the up and down arrows used to edit values for Saved, Range Minimum and Range Maximum in the Screen Control Inspector were unresponsive.

  • Fixes an issue which blocked the solo button from being mapped to a screen control.

  • The plug-in bypass control on channel strip insert slots for MIDI effects, software instruments or audio effects can now be used to map a screen control to a plug-in bypass parameter.

  • Mappings for controls on Concert-level Aux sends are now retained when a new channel strip is loaded.

  • Fixes a issue which caused Concert level Saved Value settings not to load the correct values.

  • The Layer Editor now displays channel strip names correctly when the Channel Strips Area is configured to show multiple lines of text for channel strip names.

  • Switching to a different screen control no longer disables the Map Parameter or Assign and Map buttons.

  • The Open Plug-in command in the Workspace contextual menu is no longer dimmed when there is a plug-in associated with the mapping of the control that is being clicked.

  • Resolves an issue which ignored MIDI input when using the "Assign & Map” function.

Sound Library

  • The patches 80s Bitrate Synth, 80s Chime Vibe, and 80s Signature Keyboard now sound correct when played in MainStage.

  • The Sound Library Manager window now closes as expected when Cancel is pressed while downloading additional content.

  • Ultrabeat samples that have been moved from the default install location can now be found and loaded.

Plug-ins

  • Resolves an issue where the Studio Strings instrument might exhibit hanging notes after being played for a while.

  • Fixes an issue that stopped the Drive Mode I / II parameter in Vintage Electric Piano from being changed.

Smart Controls

  • The correct curve for Scale Parameter for the Low Smart Control in the graph is now displayed.

MIDI clock

  • MIDI Clock Start and Stop commands now work as expected.

  • MainStage no longer sends an unexpectedly large number of MIDI clock events after a MIDI Clock start command is sent.

General

  • The Advanced Settings window within the Audio Settings can now be closed after clicking the OK button.

  • The setting Pickup for the “Respond to Hardware Move” concert setting now uses the saved value for the control rather than the current value for the Screen Control.

  • Changes to an a controller assignment in the Assignments and Mapping tab now update reliably.

  • Resolves an issue in which switching the Audio Input Device and then closing MainStage could cause a new concert created from the Keyboards > Alchemy template to load with Chorus plug-in unexpectedly inserted in the channel input slots.

MainStage 3.6.1

  • Presets now display as expected in the Plug-in Library tab of the Channel Strip Inspector after inserting a software instrument into the channel strip.

MainStage 3.6

    • When loading a concert that includes the IK Multimedia Hammond B3X plug-in.

    • When editing the Transpose setting of a multitimbral channel strip.

    • When receiving Pitch Wheel or MIDI CC messages via the IAC bus.

    • When adding a plug-in to a multitimbral channel strip after an existing plug-in window has been opened and closed.

    • When pasting a screen control from a patch over a screen control in another patch.

    • When the Edit>Cut command is performed on the Metronome channel strip.

    • When the audio device is disconnected or reconnected while MainStage is running.

Mixer

  • Dragging a stereo audio file to the mixer now creates a stereo Playback channel strip.

  • It is now possible to drag in the Layer tab to set note ranges on multitimbral channel strips.

  • Channel strip busses added to a multi-output channel at the set or concert level are now displayed when changing patches.

  • Converting an alias of an audio channel to an independent channel now preserves the original input setting.

Patches

  • When dragging multiple patch files to the Patch List, the patches are now placed where they were dropped rather than the end of the list.

  • The Tempo Slider in the Patch Inspector now reliably updates when adjusted when more than one patch is selected.

Undo

  • Adding a marker in Playback now creates an Undo step.

  • After pasting over a selected screen control and then performing Undo, the original screen control can now be selected.

  • Performing Undo after stamping a screen control now restores the control to its original size.

  • Patches are no longer unexpectedly set to "Skip" after performing Undo after "New Set from Selection" is performed.

  • Performing Undo after changing the icon the Patch Settings "Attributes" tab now resets the original icon.

  • Undo now works properly after renaming a Keyboard in the Workspace.

Layout

  • In Layout mode it is now easier to manage overlapping background objects in the Workspace.

Loopback

  • Undo in Loopback now only affects the most recent recording.

Playback

  • The Play/Stop button in Playback now works consistently in cases where an empty playback channel strip has the "Start with Play" action defined.

  • The last marker in an instance of Playback can now be deleted using the Remove Marker command.

Plug-ins

  • Mapping screen controls to Scripter plug-in parameters works as expected.

Auto Sampler

  • Auto Sampler now names recorded audio files using Mainstage's current setting for Middle C.

Control surfaces and MIDI controllers

  • Mackie Control motorized faders now respond as expected.

  • Fixes an issue where hardware could receive incorrect values when sending tempo / tap tempo from a screen control.

General

  • Layer Bypass now works with multitimbral MIDI input.

  • MIDI continuous controller (cc) #12 messages now work with external hardware when using the Vintage Organ.

  • The maximum number of send slots per channel strip has been increased to 12.

  • Aux numbers are again displayed on channel strip inputs.

  • The Master and Output channel strips now only show elements relevant to their specific functions.

  • Aliases of Multi Output Software Instruments in which the audio routing has been changed now consistently output sound as expected.

  • Output assignments of external MIDI channel strips are now maintained when the audio/MIDI interface is disconnected.

  • Duplicating multiple patched no longer sets the output of the duplicates to “No Output”.

  • The left/right cursor keys can now be used to navigate between channel types when adding new channel strips to a concert.

  • Creating a new channel strip with the Output set to “None” no longer creates a channel strip set to Output 1.

  • Bypassing mono-stereo instances of plug-ins no longer sets them to mono.

  • Copy and paste tracks containing external instruments between patches now reliably retains mono/stereo and input settings.

Smart Controls

  • Smart Controls now reliably update when performing Undo after changing a preset.

  • The Smart Controls panel now reliably shows controls loading a patch and then performing Undo and then Redo.

  • Smart Controls now update when changing presets in Alchemy.

Auto Sampler

  • Auto Sampler no longer rarely hangs on certain notes with high gain values while sampling.

  • Single layer zones created in Auto Sampler now always set the upper velocity limit to 127, even in cases where the note was sampled at a lower velocity.

Instruments

  • Custom Sampler instruments created in Logic Pro X 10.4.5 or later now play properly.

Key commands

  • The Key command “Show Next Alias” now reliably keeps working after being used multiple times in succession.

Import

  • It is now possible to load Standard MIDI Files into MainStage.

Articulations

  • Articulation mappings now reliably load their saved values.

Undo

  • The “On Patch Change” setting in Mappings is now properly restored after it is changed and then Undo is performed.

  • Redo works correctly after performing Undo in the notes section of a channel strip.

  • The checkbox to enable “Stepped” mode in the graphs view now remains visible when Undo is performed after inserting a new instrument.

General

  • The Touch Bar now remains functional when the “choose template” dialog is open.

  • Master Output Fader and Level Meter screen objects in the Workspace no longer appear to be unmapped in duplicated patches.

  • Opening a concert from the Recent Files menu or from the Finder while a document is open now reliably triggers the “Do you want to close the current concert before opening a new concert?” dialog.

  • Key commands related to Signal Flow Channel Strips again work as expected.
