Mac OS X 10.5: "LOGINserver quit unexpectedly" appears when logging in

In Mac OS X 10.5 or later, you may see an alert containing the following message each time you log in:

"The application LOGINserver quit unexpectedly."

The LOGINserver application may have been installed from a disc that came with a Brother all-in-one/multi-function device.

Update the Brother scanner driver, as recommended in this support document.
