Safari 5: When to expect lock icon with encrypted content

This article explains when you should expect to see the lock icon when browsing webpages with encrypted content using Safari 5.

When you visit a webpage that contains only encrypted content using Safari 5, you will see the lock icon.

If you're using Safari 5 for Mac, you will see the lock icon in the upper-right corner of the Safari window:

If you're using Safari 5 for Windows, you will see the lock icon on the right side of the address field:

The lock icon lets you know that the webpage contains only encrypted content.

Tip: When you click the lock icon, you will see the website certificate.

When you visit a webpage that contains any unencrypted content, you will not see the lock icon.
