After you’ve contacted Apple for a replacement, you’ll receive a kit that contains a replacement product with everything you need to return your original product to Apple.

Important: Be sure to return your product so that Apple receives it within 10 days of the day your replacement product was shipped to you by Apple (check your ship date). Prepare your device for packing and shipping

Customers in Japan may proceed to the Ship your AirPods earbud to Apple section for the Asia-Pacific region.

These steps include the return process for sending one of your AirPods earbuds or both AirPods earbuds. Be sure to remove your device from your FindMy network or Apple ID before returning your device.

AirPods

Before returning your AirPods, be sure to wipe them clean and remove any debris. If you're sending AirPods Pro, remove the ear tips and keep them in a safe place for later use. To remove an ear tip, pull firmly at the base of the ear tip, where the ear tip is attached to the AirPods.

  1. Place your AirPods or AirPods Pro earbud(s) into the insert by sliding the stem of the AirPods into the paper tube. Fold the top flap in. Do not send your ear tips. If you send your ear tips, we will not be able to return them.
  2. Put the insert into the white box. Then, close the white box by placing the lid on it.
  3. Place the white box, containing one of your AirPods earbuds, into the brown shipping box. If you're sending both AirPods, place the white boxes, containing both AirPods, into the brown shipping box.

  4. Close and seal the brown shipping box with tape and mail the box to Apple. If there is a battery sticker pasted on the outside of the box, please make sure it is not obstructed.

Wireless Charging Case

If you are returning the charging case to your AirPods, AirPods 3rd generation, or AirPods Pro, follow these steps:

  1. Place your charging case into the insert of the white box. Close the white box by placing the lid on it.
  2. Place the white box into the brown shipping box. Do not include any other items, such as your AirPods or Wireless Charging Case cable.
  3. Close and seal the brown shipping box with tape and mail the box to Apple. If there is a battery sticker pasted on the outside of the box, please make sure it is not obstructed.
