Play rain sounds and other ambient noise with Background Sounds

With iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 or later, you can play ambient soundscapes in the background with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Listen to ocean, rain, bright noise sounds, and more.

Turn on Background Sounds

  1. Open Control Center and tap the Hearing Devices button . If you don't see the Hearing Devices button, learn how to add it to Control Center. 
  2. Tap Background Sounds  to turn it on.
  3. Tap the name of the current sound to view other sounds, then tap a sound name to listen to a preview. After you choose a sound, tap outside of the card to go back. 
  4. Tap outside of the card again when you're done. 

If you use Headphone Accommodations, your current settings are automatically applied to Background Sounds. 

Turn off Background Sounds

  1. Open Control Center and tap the Hearing Devices button .
  2. Tap Background Sounds  to turn it off.
