If HEVC media doesn’t perform as expected in Final Cut Pro X 10.4, Motion 5.4 or Compressor 4.4

If you're using Final Cut Pro X 10.4, Motion 5.4 or Compressor 4.4 on a Mac running macOS Sierra, HEVC video clips recorded with iOS devices running iOS 11 or later might not perform as expected.

Update to macOS High Sierra

Update your Mac to macOS High Sierra. If you can't update to macOS High Sierra and you have to work with HEVC media, try the two solutions below.

Optimize media when collaborating with others running macOS High Sierra

You might need to work with someone using Final Cut Pro X on a Mac running macOS High Sierra. If they send you a library that contains HEVC media, ask them to optimize the media before sending the Final Cut Pro X library to you.
