Take and edit photos with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Open your Camera app

The perfect moment can happen at any moment, so it's important to know how to access your Camera, and fast. There are a few ways to open your Camera app.

Home screen

From your Home screen, tap the Camera app. And with an iPhone 6s1, you can use 3D touch.

Control Center

Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Center, then tap .

Lock screen

On your Lock screen, swipe up from the  icon.

 

      

Capture the moment

Get the perfect picture with the advanced pixel technology in your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. All you have to do is find something beautiful, open the Camera app, and tap the Shutter button.

Flash: The LED flash on your iPhone and iPod touch2 gives your photo extra light when you need it. Tap  to turn it on or off.

HDR: When you turn on HDR, several photos at different exposures are automatically combined to give you a single beautifully lit photo.

 

Live photos: With your iPhone 6s,1 you can capture life as it happens—in movement and sound. Live Photos is on by default, tap  to turn it off.
 

Timer: Tired of always taking the pictures and never being in them? Set your device somewhere sturdy, frame your shot, then tap  . Choose a 3 or 10 second countdown, tap the Shutter button, then get into place and smile.

FaceTime camera: Take a selfie with your FaceTime camera. Tap  , find the perfect angle, then tap the Shutter button. And with your iPhone 6s,1 you can use the Home screen as a flash for your selfies.

Choose a mode: Sometimes you want to take more than a regular photo. Swipe the screen left or right, or tap the camera mode labels to choose Time-Lapse, Slo-Mo, Video, Photo, Square, or Panoramic.

Find your photos and videos

You can find your entire collection in both the Photos app and the Camera app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  • Open the Photos app and tap the Photos tab at the bottom of the screen. You'll see your photos and videos organized into Moments, Collections, and Years.
  • You can also access your photos from the Albums tab. Tap All Photos, and your photos and videos appear in chronological order.
  • In the Camera app, tap the icon of the last picture you took to see it in your Photo Library. On an iPhone 6s,1 you can get a quick preview when you Peek and Pop into the icon with 3D Touch.

Edit your photo in seconds

You can create photo masterpieces right on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. After you take your photo, open it in the Photos app and tap Edit. Then you can adjust your photo's size, angle, light, and more. If you don’t like how your changes look, tap Cancel and you can revert back to the original.

Enhance instantly

Auto-enhance will instantly improve your picture’s exposure, contrast, saturation, and other qualities. It's the fastest way to take your photo from average to amazing.

Crop and straighten

You can drag the corners of the grid tool to set your own crop, then move the wheel to tilt or straighten your photo.

Apply filters

Tap to experiment with your device's built-in photo filters. Give your photo a different color effect, such as Mono or Chrome.

 

Adjust light and color

Use the smart slider to find just the right lighting and color. Or tap  , then tap  and a menu of individual tools lets you make precise adjustments.
