Status icons on Apple Watch

Learn what the status icons at the top of your screen mean. 

green lightning bold   

Your Apple Watch is charging.

Low battery icon

Your battery is low.

lock icon   

Your Apple Watch is locked. Tap it to enter the passcode.

You received a notification. Swipe down on the watch face to read it.

airplane icon  

Airplane Mode is on. Wireless turns off, but you can still use other features. To turn off Airplane Mode, swipe up on your watch face to see Glances. Swipe left or right to the Settings glance, then tap Airplane mode button.

moon icon   

Do Not Disturb is on. Calls and alerts won’t ring or light up the screen, but alarms still sound. To turn off Do Not Disturb, swipe up on your watch face to see Glances. Swipe left or right to the Settings glance, then tap Do Not Disturb button.

running icon

This appears when you use Workout. If you still see workout icon after you end your workout, restart your watch.

airplay button

Tap airplay button to switch the audio output between paired Bluetooth headsets, speakers, and accessories.

There’s wireless activity or an active process.

red iPhone icon   

Your Apple Watch isn't connected to your iPhone. Move your devices closer together or turn off Airplane Mode.

green cloud icon

When your Apple Watch connects to a Wi-Fi network instead of your iPhone, green cloud icon appears in the Settings Glance.

  

If you're trying to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again and the Watch app on your iPhone asks you to tap Info icon, you need to connect your devices again. Manually pairing won't connect your devices again.
