If you can‘t sign in with your Apple ID after you upgrade to iOS 9

When you upgrade and set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you’ll see a message to sign in with your Apple ID and password.

If your Apple ID password works on your Apple ID account page and iCloud.com, but you see a message that your password is wrong when you set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for iOS 9, follow these steps.

If you're updating to iOS 9.1

  1. Tap Skip and finish setting up your device.
  2. From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
  4. Tap Unlock Account.
  5. Follow the steps you see to unlock your account.

If you're updating to iOS 9.0.2

  1. From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud and make sure that the Apple ID you see is the one you want to use with your account.
  2. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > iCloud.
  3. Tap Forgot Apple ID or Password.
  4. Follow the steps you see to unlock your account.
