Manage your Apple Music membership if you’re using an Android phone

Learn how to cancel your membership, change from an Individual to a Family or Student membership, or join an existing Family Membership.

Cancel your membership

If you want to cancel an Apple Music membership, turn off Automatic Renewal.

Your membership might renew if you don't turn off Automatic Renewal more than 24 hours before your renewal date.

  1. In the Apple Music app on your Android phone, tap the menu icon   in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap your photo or name at the top of the menu to get to your account settings.
  3. Tap Manage Membership. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  4. Tap Subscription.
  5. Turn off Automatic Renewal. When Automatic Renewal is off, paid Apple Music memberships automatically stop at the end of the current billing cycle and free trial memberships end when the free trial period expires.

Carrier-bundled memberships are managed through the carrier. Contact your carrier to cancel your membership.

If you no longer have the Android phone that you signed up with or can't access the Apple Music app on that phone, cancel your membership from iTunes on a Mac or PC. You might have to get the latest version of iTunes first.

Change your membership

If you joined Apple Music with an Individual Membership (1 Month), you can change to an Individual Membership (1 Year), Student Membership (1 Month), or Family Membership (1 Month).

Carrier-bundled memberships are managed through the carrier. Contact your carrier to change your membership.

Change to an Individual Membership (1 Year)

  1. In the Apple Music app, tap the menu icon   in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap your photo or name at the top of the menu to get to your account settings.
  3. Tap Manage Membership. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  4. Tap Subscription.
  5. Tap Individual (1 Year), then confirm your selection.

Change to a Student Membership

With a Student Membership, degree-granting university or college* students in select countries can join Apple Music for a discounted membership price** for up to 48 months (4 years). The time does not need to be continuous.

Change to a Family Membership

  1. In the Apple Music app, tap the menu icon   in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap your photo or name at the top of the menu to get to your account settings.
  3. Tap Manage Membership. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  4. Tap Subscription.
  5. Tap Family (1 Month), then confirm your selection.

If you have an Individual or Student Membership, you can join an existing Family Membership.

Join an existing Family Membership

If you're already a member of a Family Sharing group that has an Apple Music Family Membership, you don't need to do anything to join the membership.

If you have an Apple Music Individual or Student Membership and want to join an existing Family Membership that you're not already a part of, follow these steps:

  1. Ask the organizer of the Family Membership to invite you to join their family group.
  2. After you accept the invitation or enter your Apple ID and password in their Apple Music app, open Apple Music on your own Android phone and check to make sure that you're a part of the famliy: Tap the menu icon   in the upper-left corner, then tap your name or photo. Tap Manage Membership, then look for Family (1 Month) under Subscription.

When you join a Family Membership, your Individual or Student Membership cancels at the end of the next billing cycle. If you want to restart your Individual or Student Membership later, you can change back.

Add family members to your Family Membership

When you join Apple Music with a Family Membership, you can also set up Family Sharing and become the family organizer. As family organizer, any iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or App Store purchases made by your family members are charged to the payment method that you add when you join. You must have a payment method on file in order to be a family organizer. If you don’t, you can change your payment method.

To invite additional family members to join your Family Sharing group and Apple Music Family Membership, follow these steps:

  1. In the Apple Music app, tap the menu icon   in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap your photo or name at the top of the menu to get to your account settings.
  3. Tap Manage Membership. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  4. Tap Family Setup or Family.
  5. If you tapped Family Setup, tap Continue to proceed with inviting family members.
  6. If you tapped Family, tap Add Family Member at the bottom of the screen to invite additional members.

You can either send family members an email invite to join your family or have them enter their Apple ID and password directly into the Apple Music app. If the app asks to access your contacts, tap Allow so that you can quickly search the contacts that you have saved to your Android phone.

After a family member accepts the email invitation or enters their information into the app, they’ll appear under Family in your account settings.

Remove family members or stop sharing

If you want to remove an individual from your Family Sharing group and Apple Music Family Membership, tap on their name under Family in your account settings, then tap Remove From Family.

If you want to stop sharing completely, tap on your own name under Family in your account settings, then tap Stop Family Sharing. All family members are removed from your Family Sharing group and Apple Music Family Membership. When you stop sharing, your Apple Music membership doesn't end. You can cancel your membership or change to a different membership plan.

Change your payment method

To change the payment method that you have on file for your Apple Music membership, follow these steps:

  1. In the Apple Music app, tap the menu icon   in the upper-left corner.
  2. Tap your photo or name at the top of the menu to get to your account settings.
  3. Tap Manage Membership, then Payment Information. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  4. On the Payment Information screen, you can change your credit or debit card information and billing address. Tap Done in the lower-right corner to save your changes.

You can also redeem iTunes and Apple Music Gift Cards to pay for your Apple Music membership.

*To qualify for an Apple Music Student Membership, you must be a student studying a bachelor degree, post-graduate degree, or equivalent Higher Education course at a University, College (US only) or Post-Secondary School (Canada only). Institutions offering compulsory and further education courses are not eligible at this time.
