Tips for using Apple Support search

Need help finding answers to your support questions? Use these tips to save time and get better search results.

Search with keywords

There are many ways you can search to help you get the results that you're looking for. You can:

  • Type upper or lowercase keywords. The search bar isn't case-specific.
  • Type quotation marks around specific phrases. For example, when you search "how to upgrade," with quotation marks, you will only see results that have the exact phrase "how to upgrade" in them.

  • Search with AND, OR, and NOT. For example, when you search iPod AND batteries, you will see results that have both the word "iPod" and the word "batteries" in them.

Filter your search

You can fine-tune your results even more when you filter your search by document type or include Apple's archived content.

Search by document type

  1. Enter your keywords.
  2. Tap or click  Filter.
  3. Choose a document type.

Search archived content

  1. Enter your keywords.
  2. Tap or click  Filter.
  3. Scroll down and tap or click "Include content that is no longer being updated."
