Join Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC

Join Apple Music, choose artists that you like, and start enjoying the greatest collection of music on the planet on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.

Before you join Apple Music, back up your music and make sure that all of your devices are up to date. If you want a Family Membership to Apple Music, set up Family Sharing first. Learn more about Apple Music and Family Sharing.

When you first join Apple Music, you get one free, three-month trial membership per person or family. To join, you need to enter a valid payment method, but you will be billed for your membership only after the trial period ends.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Open the Music app. The first time you open the app after you update, you see a message about starting an Apple Music free trial. If you don't see the message, tap For You at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Start 3-month Free Trial.
  3. Select a membership type, then tap Next.

  4. If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password that you use with the iTunes Store. If you don't have an Apple ID, tap Create Account.
  5. You might be asked to validate your billing info, but you won't be billed until after the three-month free trial period ends. Add a valid payment method and tap Join.
  6. If prompted, agree to the terms and conditions.
  7. Choose genres and artists that you like.

On your Mac or PC

  1. Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
  2. In the upper-left corner, choose   Music.
  3. From the top of iTunes, click For You.
  4. Click Start 3-Month Free Trial.
  5. Select a membership type, then click Next.

  6. If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password that you use with the iTunes Store. If you don't have an Apple ID, click Create Account.
  7. You might be asked to validate your billing info, but you won't be billed until after the three-month free trial period ends. Add a valid payment method and click Join.
  8. If prompted, agree to the terms and conditions.
  9. Choose genres and artists that you like.

About valid payment methods

When you first sign up for an Apple Music membership, you can choose only one of these payment methods:

  • Credit card
  • Debit card
  • Mobile phone billing (through supported carriers)
  • Mobile phone service provider bundling (through supported carriers)
    Make sure not to join through both Apple and your mobile phone service provider, or you might be billed for two memberships.
  • iTunes and Apple Music Gift Cards

  • None, to use store credit (if you're signing up for more than 1 month of membership)
    To use store credit to pay for your Apple Music membership, you must have enough store credit to cover the amount of your first renewal. Learn how to add store credit to your account.

After you sign up, you can change your payment method to a different method, such as PayPal.

Start Apple Music with genres and artists that you like

When you join Apple Music, we ask you to choose genres and artists that you like. We use these genres and artists to give you music suggestions from our experts who know and love music. You can also choose different genres and artists anytime after you join.

First, select your favorite genres:

  • Tap or click once on genres that you like.
  • Tap or click twice on genres that you like the most.
  • Press and hold on or click the x icon   in the upper-left corner of genres that you don’t like to remove them.

Select at least three genres, then tap Next. Then, select your favorite artists:

  • Tap or click once on artists that you like.
  • Tap or click twice on artists that you like the most.
  • Press and hold on or click the x icon   in the upper-left corner of artists that you don’t like to remove them.

If you don’t see artists that you like, tap Load More Artists. Select at least three artists, then tap Done.

If you have an Android phone
