Export contact and calendar data to your iPod using iTunes for Windows

Learn how to export your contacts and calendars to your iPod classic, iPod mini, or iPod nano.

Export your contacts

From your contacts application:

  1. Select all contacts, or just the contacts you want to have on the iPod.
  2. Export your contacts in vCard format to your desktop.
    Refer to your contacts application Help or software manual for how to do this.
  3. Connect your iPod to your computer using a USB cable.
  4. In iTunes, put your iPod into Disk Mode.
  5. Open your iPod from Windows Explorer.
  6. Open the Contacts folder on the iPod.
  7. Drag the vCard file into the Contacts folder.
  8. After the transfer finishes, eject the iPod.

Export your calendars

From your calendar application:

  1. Select the calendar you want to view from your iPod.
  2. Export your calendar in .ics format to your desktop.
    Refer to your calendar application Help menu or software manual for how to do this.
  3. Repeat until you have created an file for each calendar you want on the iPod.
  4. In iTunes, put your iPod into Disk Mode.
  5. Open your iPod from Windows Explorer.
  6. Open the Calendars folder on the iPod.
  7. Drag the .ics file or files into the Calendars folder.
  8. After the transfer finishes, eject the iPod.

View your contacts and calendars

After you copy the content to your iPod, go to the Extras menu on your device to view your contacts or calendars. If you want to update the contacts or calendars on the iPod again, repeat the steps above.

Contacts and calendars are not supported on the iPod nano 6th and 7th generations.
