OS X Maps: Share menu doesn‘t list iOS devices

When clicking the Share button in the Maps app in OS X Mavericks v10.9, your iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) may not appear in the Share menu.

You should see your iOS devices at the top of the menu.

1. Make sure that your iOS devices are using iOS 7.

OS X Maps can send to an iOS device only if the device is using iOS 7.

2. Make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet and signed in to the same iCloud account as your iOS devices.

The Share menu lists only the iOS devices that are signed in to the same iCloud account as your Mac.

  • On your Mac, choose Apple menu () > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Account Details to see which Apple ID you're using.
  • On your iOS devices, go to Settings > iCloud > Account and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account as your Mac.

If you still don't see your devices in Maps, continue to the next step.

3. Quit OS X Maps and try again.

  1. Quit the Maps app, then open it again.
  2. Click the Share button. If you still don't see your devices, continue to the next step.

4. Sign in to FaceTime or Messages on your Mac.

  1. Sign in to either FaceTime or Messages. In Messages, you should be signed in to your iMessage account, not another type of account. If you're already signed in, continue to the next step.
  2. Restart your computer. After the computer restarts, you should be asked to enter your iCloud password and click Log In.
  3. If you still don't see your devices in Maps, quit Maps, then open it again and check for your devices once more.
