Mac OS X v10.8.2: Startup, Keychain, Airport connection, CD/DVD ejection, and other issues after Software Update

You may see the message "Mac OS X wants to access your Keychain," and applications such as Mail and Safari may have authentication issues. Wireless connections to base stations that use passwords may also stop working, and restart, shutdown, or wake from sleep issues may occur. Additionally, CDs and DVDs may not eject, and the Messages application may not be able to send or receive messages.

Download and apply OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 Supplemental Update 2.0 to address these issues. You can manually install the update, or you can update via the Mac App Store with these steps:

  1. From the Apple () menu, choose Software Update to access the Mac App Store.
  2. Click the Updates tab at the top-right corner of the Mac App Store window and then install the update.
