Third-party plugins for Mail may stop working after applying an OS X update.

This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.

Mail plugins are automatically disabled after each OS X update if the plugin is not designated as compatible. Check with the plugin developer to see if a newer version of the plugin you are using is available.

Third-party Mail plugins are normally stored in the following folders:

  • ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
  • /Library/Mail/Bundles

Apple does not support the installation or use of third-party plugins with Mail.app.
